From the FBI Press Release today:
The FBI’s crime statistics estimates, based on reported data for 2023, show that national violent crime decreased an estimated 3.0% in 2023 compared to 2022 estimates:
- Murder and non-negligent manslaughter recorded a 2023 estimated nationwide decrease of 11.6% compared to the previous year.
- In 2023, the estimated number of offenses in the revised rape category saw an estimated 9.4% decrease.
- Aggravated assault figures decreased an estimated 2.8% in 2023.
- Robbery showed an estimated decrease of 0.3% nationally.
U.S. property crime trends for the same period likewise saw an overall decrease of 2.4% relative to 2022, with burglaries down 7.6% and larcenies down 4.4%. Motor vehicle thefts OTOH were up by a whopping 12.6%.
Interestingly, even hate crime incidents showed a marginal drop of 0.6% in 2023 relative to 2022. So the bogus Republican talking point about crime rates exploding during the Biden Administration is, not surprisingly, just so much malarky — while they did indeed increase dramatically during the Covid-19 pandemic, nearly all of that increase actually occurred in 2020 when il Douche was still in charge; and the overall crime rate (particularly murders) is rapidly returning to pre-pandemic levels.
Almost forgot to note, but the murder rate drop in 2023 is apparently the largest ever year-over-year drop ever recorded by the FBI.
