Lucy And Football: "Bipartisan" Group of Senators Meet For Another Failed Attempt At Gun Control.

Senate “majority leader” Schumer has deferred to another “bipartisan” group of senators to meet on wasting more time on crafting a gun control bill that will not pass the U.S. Senate.  This is another episode in the Lucy and Charlie Brown Football routine that Republicans and Sinema and Manchin love to play on Democrats, and as always, the real victims will be more dead Americans from gun violence.  Republicans have no intention of passing any real gun control laws, and Sinema and Manchin are corrupt egomaniacs who want media attention and to flex their undeserved power to hurt their fellow Democrats.

First up, look at what Senate Republicans want to have discussed in those so called talks:

The group is also looking at a GOP bill that was blocked Wednesday – the School Safety Act – that would codify current practice put in place during the Trump administration that created a clearinghouse of best practices for hardening schools against threats.

Emphasis is mine.

This is exactly the talking points of Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick.  And the person who was pushing this bill was none other than Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson.  But Republicans are still pushing for this POS.  Basically, give teachers guns is what Republicans are arguing.

And Moscow Mitch gave his blessing to this so called bipartisan group.  This is a typical stall tactic by Moscow Mitch.  Look like you are working on a solution to a problem, but make sure you just talk and talk and talk until the news changes.  It has worked for Republicans time and time again.

But besides the bad faith by Republicans, we have Sinema and Manchin involved in the so called talks.  Do I need to mention that those two have the power NOW to have a filibuster carve out for the House passed bills on gun control?  But both refuse and lie about their real motivations.

Sinema and Manchin revel in the power that Republicans have given them with their lock step filibusters of anything that Democrats propose.  They are attention whores, and both Sinema and Manchin have done this act before on multiple Democratic agenda items (codifying abortion rights, passing voter rights protections, and Build Back Better).  Both act like they are willing to “compromise,” but they always say that the Democratic bill is not bipartisan.  Therefore, they give a resounding “NO” and run off to the media to shit all over Democrats.

Supposedly, and I emphasize that word, Schumer has set a “deadline” for these talks to produce some kind of bill.  He wants something within 10 days.  But we all know how this has gone before.  The Democrats will fall for every “We are talking up to the last moment, and we are so close to a deal!” lie, and the so called deadline will be extended.  And extended.  And extended.

By the way, Manchin and Toomey are getting the band back together for these talks.  Both failed to get their weak gun control bill passed after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.  And here we are again.  Nearly ten years after that failed attempt where Mr. Bipartisan Manchin couldn’t deliver a fucking pizza.

What is sad is that Senator Murphy of Conneticut is falling for all this bullshit.  Will Murphy call out all those in the group who stand in the way of any gun control bill?  I don’t think so.  Too many senate Democrats are not willing to call Republicans liars and cowards.

The only way to make a change is to brand the Republican Party as extremists who embrace death and make the case to the dumbass voters to vote out Republicans.  Otherwise, Democrats are letting the Republicans off the hook because they do not want to look mean.  And when that happens, voters will just think, “It’s politics as usual, and I want my tax cut.  So I will vote Republican.”

You have to spell it out to the voters that if they vote for Republicans they are also voting for the death of children.  If it just becomes a bothsiderism issue, Republicans will have an easy time.  You have to make people who vote Republican to feel uncomfortable, and you have to make to plain to Democratic voters that not voting is also being complicit in the American Culture of Death.

The only real change on the issue of gun conrol is voting out Republicans not making deals with them.
